How does 911 Alert work?

Rescue uses RapidSOS or STOPit Notify to transmit real-time room-level location data directly to 911 dispatch centers the moment a 911-enabled emergency is declared.

K-12 schools: Dispatch is immediate and automatic. A human monitoring concierge also calls the 911 operator to confirm they are actively reviewing all incident data, including the category of emergency and location. Staff on-site receive updates through the Rescue Mobile app as 911 acknowledges and responds.

Non-K-12 organizations (YMCAs, hospitals, daycares, etc.): A 30-second validation window appears in the Rescue Mobile app and web dashboard – or your STOPit Notify app. A designated administrator or responder must confirm the emergency should be escalated to 911 by tapping Confirm within that window. If ignored, the system escalates automatically through SMS, IVR, and a direct call from the monitoring center. If all go unanswered, the monitoring center dispatches 911 regardless — no genuine emergency goes unreported even if staff are unable to respond.
