What to Do If Your Wi-Fi Password Changes

What to Do If Your Wi-Fi Password Changes

A Wi-Fi password change affects Repeaters only. The Alert Station connects via Ethernet PoE and is not affected by Wi-Fi credential changes. Rafts communicate over LoRa and are not affected either.

Repeaters will go offline

Repeaters connect to your facility's Wi-Fi directly. If the Wi-Fi password changes without updating the Repeater's credentials, the Repeater will go offline. Its bottom LED will turn Yellow, meaning it's attempting to connect to Wi-Fi but failing.

Re-provisioning Repeaters after a password change

Re-provision each affected Repeater using the Rescue Mobile app:

  1. Open the Rescue Mobile app and sign in as an administrator
  2. Go to Devices > Find Device > Connect via Bluetooth
  3. Select the Repeater from the nearby devices list
  4. Enter the new Wi-Fi password and tap Provision
  5. Wait for the bottom LED to turn White — fully reconnected

Repeat for each Repeater that is offline. Or you can broadcast the new WiFi onto all other Repeaters simultaneously. Go to app.punchrescue.com and navigate to Settings > WiFi Networks, select the new WiFi, and click "Connect all repeaters".

Before changing your facility's Wi-Fi password in the future, plan to re-provision your Repeaters immediately after. Schedule the change during a time when the system is least critical — not during operational hours.
