Power & Battery Maintenance

Rescue Cards run on two CR2032 coin-cell batteries — the same small round batteries used in key fobs and watches. No charging station, no dock, no scheduled power routine.

Battery life

A fresh pair of CR2032 batteries powers a Card for approximately 12 months under normal use. The dashboard monitors battery health for every Card in real time. There is no low-battery indicator on the device itself, which makes proactive dashboard monitoring important.

Checking battery status

Go to app.punchrescue.com > Devices. Each Card tile displays its current battery level. Check this weekly as a routine, or configure automatic alerts by going to Settings > Monitoring > Cards and setting a threshold at which you want to be notified.

What happens if a Card battery dies during a shift

The Card goes offline, stops sending heartbeats, and can no longer send emergency signals. The dashboard flags it as Offline and — if monitoring notifications are configured — alerts administrators. The staff member carrying it will not receive any warning from the device itself. This is why proactive battery monitoring matters.

Replacing the batteries

  1. Slide open the rear cover of the Card
  2. Remove the two old CR2032 batteries
  3. Insert two fresh batteries with the positive side facing up
  4. Close the cover
  5. The Card blinks Blue 5 times to confirm a successful restart

The battery level in the dashboard updates at the next heartbeat after replacement. CR2032 batteries are widely available — stock a small supply on-site so replacements can happen quickly.

CR2032 batteries are the organization's responsibility to supply. Device hardware failures are covered by your subscription.
