Rescue is built to monitor itself, so you don't have to. The Settings > Monitoring tab lets administrators configure automatic push, email, and SMS notifications for critical health scenarios, giving your team real-time awareness of device health without needing to log into the dashboard every day. Think of manual dashboard monitoring as your backup, and Monitoring notifications as your first line of awareness.
Setting Up Monitoring Notifications
Go to Settings in the left sidebar and select Monitoring. From here, administrators can configure automatic notifications for the following:
For each notification type, you can choose how alerts are delivered: push notification via the Rescue Mobile app, email, SMS, or all three. Add the right staff members to the Notified Users list — anyone responsible for device health or facility operations. Make sure every notified user has a mobile phone number saved in their profile that can receive text messages.
Once configured, monitoring notifications run in the background continuously. Your team gets alerted when something needs attention rather than discovering a problem during an emergency.
Manual Monitoring — The Dashboard
For administrators who want a live view of system health at any time, the dashboard at app.punchrescue.com provides a real-time snapshot of every device in your facility.
The Home page shows four at-a-glance tiles when you log in:
The Device Settings Panel provides a deep view of any individual device. Click the gear icon on the far right of any device row to open it. The Device Data section shows: cellular enabled status, battery voltage, temperature, connection type, power reading, humidity percentage, online/offline state, current LED status, and last heartbeat timestamp. A Restart Device button is available in the top right corner. The Functions section lets you adjust alert volume, sound duration, light duration, and strobe settings. Always click Save before closing the panel, or click Undo Changes to discard edits.
What the Heartbeat Means
Every device in your system sends regular heartbeat signals to confirm it is online. Base Stations check in every 10 minutes, transmitting diagnostic data including whether the device is running on Ethernet power or backup battery. Rescue Cards send heartbeats every 5 seconds, allowing the system to continuously track their status and location in real time through your Repeaters.
If a device misses its heartbeat, the dashboard flags it as offline immediately. If you have monitoring notifications configured, the right people are alerted automatically. Heartbeats happen in the background — you do not need to manage them. They are simply the mechanism behind everything the Monitoring tab and the Devices page show you.
