Updating or Reassigning a Card

Updating or Reassigning a Card

Cards need to be reassigned whenever a staff member leaves, changes roles, or is replaced. A Card should never be in circulation assigned to someone who no longer carries it.

Reassigning a Card to a new staff member

Go to Devices in the dashboard, select the Card, and update the assigned user. The previous assignment clears as soon as the new one is made.

See Assigning Cards to Staff for step-by-step instructions.

When a staff member leaves

Go to Users in the dashboard, click the departing staff member's name, and select Remove User. Before doing so, go to Devices and reassign their Card to another staff member or note it as available for reassignment. Do not leave a Card in circulation without a valid assignment.

If the departing staff member used STOPit Notify, also update their responder assignment in the Notify admin console.

Renaming a Card

Every Card can be renamed in the dashboard. Go to Devices, click the gear icon on the Card's row, and edit the device name at the top of the panel. Save your changes. The new name appears everywhere in the dashboard — Devices, Map, and emergency logs. Using the staff member's name or role as the device name makes logs easier to read at a glance.
